Modern muskrat and coypu control |
Surveys: |

|
The Netherlands is being overrun by 500,000 muskrats and coypus, and something has to be done about it. Each year, every rat moves one cubic metre of soil in places that it is essential to protect. They remove soil from quays, dikes, embankments and banks, and then deposit it in a water channel. One method of levelling off that cannot be tolerated in the Netherlands. Our country is turning into a piece of Swiss cheese. Every year the muskrat control service catches and exterminates about 400,000 rats. Both the pest control service and rats make considerable efforts every year to maintain this cycle. The 400,000 rats are caught by 400 rat-catchers. In order to interrupt this cycle, we actually need to be able to eradicate the 10,000 female rats that survive the winter. This would spare a great deal of animal suffering and a lot of money. |
